Toffler Buggentung
Toffler Buggentung is a thoroughly devoted and highly specialized naturalist, albeit primarily by default. His early experiences with people (when they would have anything to do with him) were sufficiently disappointing as to drive him from their company, and ever further from the trappings of civilization.
Ironically, Toffler's fame, such as it is, is closely related to his flight from society. In early 1994, the adventurous malcontent left his makeshift bunker at the old Buggentung Farm for the last time. He believed he was off for a year (or so) of camping in the forests of Kentucky. As is so often the case, one thing led to another (and another). NONE of the felony charges would ultimately hold up in court, but clearly we digress.
To the point, Toffler awoke one morning to find himself lost in the wilds of . . of . . . well, the wilds of somewhere. Unbeknownst to him, he had wound up smack-dab-in-the-middle of some foothills - - - the foothills of the Calbuco volcano - - - in southern Chile!
Despite his confusion as to both his whereabouts and recent history, Toffler was immediately pleased with the world at hand: He was alone, or so he thought. It was during his first reconnaissance hike in this new found paradise that Toffler discovered, and began his new life's work with, the reclusive Ichthyovipar calbuvinylus.
While attempting to free himself from a nasty bog of cooled, granular lava, the rapidly sinking explorer caught sight of a small, apparently bemused onlooker. As is now known, the bold appearance of this rarest of creatures was due to its certainty regarding the irreversibility of Toffler's entrapment, and so, his impending death.
To severely truncate the telling of history, Toffler's charm (and fever-pitch desperation) ultimately appealed to the great goodness of his onlooker's heart. In turn, a truly heroic and now semi-famous rescue effort ensued.
